Moscow and Washington, the show must go on

Por dbloggers

The soap opera co-produced by Washington and Moscow has in the leading roles, once again, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Robert Mueller, the second character, gives unexpected twists to the plot. In spite of the fact the American president has refused the accusations every time of the Russian interference in the elections that gave Trump the victory, this time Special Attorney, Robert Mueller, appointed for the inquiries, has a hidden card, an As, revealing the Russian plan designed to benefit Trump’s campaign. H. R. McMaster, the security adviser of the current administration, said recently the proof is unquestionable. By another hand, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said to CNN that there is not substantial evidence of Russian meddling, neither indications that the Russian state could have been involved.

The sweeping indictment by Mueller describes in detail how Russia State since several years ago has been planned to interfere with US´s policy. But according to the indictment 2016 was the target that Russians hid it. It is at odds with President Donald Trump's persistent questioning of those conclusions, which has continued throughout his first year in office. In opposition to it, Peskov spoke that it is possible that Russia’s citizens are involved, which does not imply that Russia Government is involved.

On the recently Mueller´s report, 13 Russians citizens were indicted due to their implications. In addition, U.S. spy agencies have said Russia may obstruct the 2016 midterm elections using social media to spread propaganda. Nevertheless Rob Goldman, Vice-president of Facebook ads posted on Twitter that “most of the coverage of Russian meddling involves their attempt to effects the outcome of the 2016 US election”. He declared that after a reviewing of all Russian ads, the election was not the main goal.

But Donald Trump denied every statement, adding drama to this kind of soap opera that began after US election and every time show up new documents linked with the accusation. Trump and Putin are nervous when Mueller calls to his office a person close to the White House government.

Thus, and although many think it is a crazy idea, some experts believe the real one that beneficiated with the Russian interference in the 2016 elections was Bernie Sanders, whose remarks and the campaign had more of Communism than of the Nationalism traditionally American. In fact, Trump is one of those who has tried to pass the heating ball to Sanders arguing the information war goes started in 2014 in which they pretended to favor this candidate. Using this reason Trump has tried to demonstrate once and again there was no such a thing as ‘collusion’ between his campaign team and the Russians.

However, his modus operandi is suspicious. Besides going once and again against the FBI, the American president has the responsibility of getting rid of all those heading the investigation and even there is still rounding the accusation that made an attempt to get the Special Attorney out of his position, as he did with FBI’s ex-number one, James Comey.

If there was a benefit or not, the truth is that with Muller’s report the war between the presidential team and the nations’ representatives has set in motion. The White House’s press secretary tweeted “There was no conspiracy!” in an attempt to revert the public and media opinion that are seriously considering the possible conspiracy.

Nevertheless, Muller keeps on digging like a rat and has widened his inquiries to bring to light the possible obstruction of justice by the American president and his main assistants. The interview granted by Muller and Bannon, and the statements of the last one regarding the meeting between Trump’s family and the Russian official Natalia Veselnitskaya, is still warm. So far it is known that during the campaign the reason to hold the meeting was to obtain classified data on Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton. Still, the high-ranking leaders from Trump’s election committee did not get too much. Natalia Veselnitskaya had as the only purpose to debate on a law about the adoption of Russian children in the United States.

Perhaps that is why the Russians are watching their steps and Peskov has said: “Russia has never interfered, doesn't have the habit of interfering in the domestic affairs of other countries, and is not doing it now.”
