The Clooney donate money to the march for gun control

Por mayli2017

The philanthropic work of George and Amal Clooney is well known. From the charitable organization The Clooney Foundation for Justice, created by the couple in 2016, they have made numerous donations, such as the million dollars they allocated to the fight against racism and hate crimes in the United States. The violent events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, recently, following a far-right white rally, as well as the initial resignation of President Donald Trump to condemn the actions of the supremacists have resulted in an alliance between the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and the Foundation for Justice created by George and Amal Clooney. This foundation will grant a grant of almost one million euros to the SPLC with the aim of fighting against hate groups, injustice, racism and inequality. The Foundation for Justice was born in 2016 and its presidents are George and Amal Clooney. Its main mission is to advance justice in courts, classrooms and communities around the world.

The George and Amal Clooney marriage has once again demonstrated its solidarity with one of the causes of greatest concern for the residents of the United States: gun control. They have donated half a million dollars to the March For Our Lives movement, a demonstration to demand greater control over the proliferation of weapons organized by the young survivors of the shooting of a Florida school, which killed 17 people.

The actor affirms that both he and his wife are very inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young people and affirmed that both will attend the march that will take place in Washington, on March 24. They also assured that their family will be there to accompany the incredible generation of young people from all over the country and, also, on behalf of their children, Ella and Alexander, will donate $ 500,000 to help pay for the event, since they believe that "our children's lives depend on it".

After the dramatic events of February 14 and amidst condolences for the victims and their families, the surviving students of the Parkland school and their families have organized a march demanding controls on the sale of weapons and denounced the politicians who receive economic support from the powerful National Rifle Association, which brings together the arms industry. After the Clooney marriage donation announcement, other stars like Oprah Winfrey or Steven Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw, have joined this support initiative and announced their donation.

According to Spielberg, a well-known filmmaker, young students from Florida, and from all over the country, are already demonstrating their leadership with a confidence and maturity unheard of for their age. His wife and he applaud their efforts to work for their benefit and that of future generations. They are an inspiration for all and therefore join this movement with a donation of $ 500,000 as well. Likewise, television presenter Oprah Winfrey, demonstrated her commitment to the march against arms through a tweet: where she makes clear the coincidence in ideas and feelings with the marriage of George and Amal, and will also donate half a million dollars. Celebrities such as Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga, have also used social networks to support the demonstration on March 24 and have encouraged their followers to attend the event.
