Ernesto Valverde and the future

Por Feco

Ernesto Valverde will be the coach of Barcelona next season and already begins to shape the staff with which he will work on his second project, an opportunity he will benefit from to be more noticeable than in his first experience. At this point everyone knows the two titles conquered had strengthened him.

Futbol Club Barcelona rushed to deny its own sources a few hours after winning the Copa del Sevilla final. A day marked by the excellent performance of the Barça team and by the information published by Mundo Deportivo that questioned the future of the coach. Moreover, with the passing of days and the victory in Riazor the technician has received a public endorsement by the president whose reading can be interpreted as an apology for that leak. Josep María Bartomeu personally transferred to Valverde not only his support, but his full confidence in giving him command to prepare the staff for the next season, which already raises in tune with Roberto Fernández, technical secretary who curiously does not yet know if he will be renewed, and under the attention of General Manager Pep Segura and sports vice-president Jordi Mestre.

Valverde, is not a secret, is favorable to a short squad, no higher than 22 players. André Gomes and Aleix Vidal are the two players with the best options to leave the club. Yerry Mina and Paco Alcácer also do not have a secure stay; Lucas Digne and Denis Suárez would accept proposals, in the same way as Vermaelen. Ousmane Dembélé, in whose future great hopes remain, could be a possible cession. Solving the importance of the exits, the arrival of Griezmann, the first objective, would be accompanied by a defender with sufficient guarantees, a quality midfielder with good physique (a new modality imposed in the club's schemes) and, perhaps, a player who offers what Aleix Vidal has not achieved. It also remains to be confirmed the final plan regarding Arthur. All entries and exits will end up being blessed by Valverde, who must also give his opinion about Munir and Deulofeu, in view that Rafinha will remain the property of an Inter that intends to renegotiate, as ESPN had already pointed out, the terms of his signing.

In this way, with a less populated staff but with greater competitiveness (this season there has been much difference between regulars and bench), there could be a greater presence of youth players called to win the position in the locker room, with a view to the future to recover a culture of grassroots football that in recent years has descended alarmingly at the Camp Nou.
